This is not a question about imesh but rather a question regarding dual layered dvd-r 's.
I don't know much about the dual layered (double) dvd-r except it holds 8.5 gb and u can only use them if u have a dual layered dvd burner (which I have) The question here is regarding burning a PS2 game to one.
PROBLEM: My brother rang me asking how he could copy a PS2 game which would not fit on a normal dvd-r so I suggested a dual layered dvd-r which holds double the capacity of a normal dvd-r. Small problem... he didn't have a burner to suit so he came over and using Alcohol 120% started the process of copy the game. Everything was going great and after what seemed like a long..... long time.... it finished.
One would think that this would have worked but some hours later I recieved a msg from him saying that it didn't work and that he thinks that u can't copy PS2 to dual layered dvd-r's.
I can't see why not cos all the dvd-r is, is double the capacity nothing more.
So the problem here is.... what went wrong?
SOLUTION: Insert here...............

Hey deb
The prob is not with the process or the disk,,,it prob burnt no prob,,,the prob is that ps2's were designed before duel layered disks so they have no ability to read them,,unfortunatley without a new mod chip upgrade they can't even read games or movies burnt on normal DVD-R's,,,but even if you have the mod chip for regular DVD-R's there is no mod chip to read duel layer disks,,well not that i know of yet anyways and i have all my systems mod chipped on reg basis as new mod chips come out,,,but hey i am canadian,,,we are a lil behind in the technology field in certain areas,,,lol
Anyways hope this helps.
P.S. tell him to get a game modifier prog,,,,there are alot to chose from,,,then he can take out some of the help files and the opening movie scene file and then maybe it will fit,,,, thats what my buddy does,,,i don't know how to do that yet,,,but there are a lot of forums for ppl willing to learn.

im not sure its a dual layer issue, ps2's can play dvd movies ok and most of them are dual layer, they do however look for some hidden files on a sector of the disc that burners cant write to. it may also be something in the file format thats wrong. i seem to remember reading they wont play burnt discs as standard so i guess thats why
