How come when I add my IRC username into my profile, a field then appears saying "DALnet IRC Password" and under my profile options, I can then make my password publicly viewable?
infact, why is the password field even there? why would we need to have them stored in the database or viewed by others?

i wondered about that too, is it possible it saves your password and nick for the chat applet to save you entering it ? just a guess

When I added it I posted a comment on it. Feel free to use the nickname field, but you shouldnt use the password thing (thought I had disabled it) cause there is no way I can make that a password field. Though noone could read it, except admins, this is still only suboptimal
EDIT: When I find some time I will add a password field to the chat applet, so it at least saved entering the identify command, but storing the password in the database is not secure, simply cause I could read it, unlike your password for the board which is stored encryptedly
